How to Survive a Wine Fest

With the Hudson Valley Wine Festival this weekend I thought I would give you a sneak peak at my article on "How to Survive a Wine Fest" that appears in the fall edition of Hudson Valley Wine Magazine.

In the article I talk about planning the wineries you want to taste at, when to arrive at the festival to get the most out of it and how to cleanse your palate during a long day of sipping and spitting. (yes spitting!)  Of course what to pack for your day of adventure.

You can get be the first to receive your complimentary copy of Hudson Valley Wine Magazine at the Hudson Valley Wine Festival.  Visit them in Building A.

You can also catch my seminars on Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.  I will be talking and you will be tasting the winning wines from the Hudson Valley Wine Competition.

Linda Pierro and Robert Bedford founders of Hudson Valley Wine Magazine made a guest appearance on iWine Radio.

They talk about why they started Hudson Valley Wine Magazine and the history of the Hudson River Valley AVA.

Did you know that Hudson River Valley AVA was the 12th AVA in United States. Acknowledged after Napa but before Sonoma.

They talk about the wineries, breweries, and distilleries of the Hudson Valley.

Wine at 9 Radio Show

Last Thursday I was on the Wine at 9 show on WHVW 950AM with Lisa O and Linda Pierro from Hudson Valley Wine Magazine discussing the Hudson Valley Wine Competition.  I love radio and I guess I didn't realize how much being that I grew up in the industry. (No I was never on the radio until recently)

Below is the audio from the show for your listening pleasure.  I discuss what the wine competition entails, how it's judged and what goes on behind the scenes.

The People Have Spoken: "The Face of Hudson Valley Wine Label" Hudson River Valley Red

The people have spoken!  Hudson Valley Wine Magazine ran a "People's Choice" to see the public opinion of  Hudson Valley Wine Labels and to let the people choose who they think has the best label.  The 20 labels that were in this competition were winners from the competition in June that was judged by a panel of four industry judges.

Congratulations goes to Carlo and Dominique DeVito and Hudson-Chatham Winery for their Hudson River Valley Red label. This label was produced by artist George Cooke.  This is the famous view from Washington Valley, looking down the Hudson River.  Cooke was a famous portraitist and landscape painter.  To read more about Cooke and his painting please visit Hudson-Chatham Winery's Blog.

The people have spoken.  Congratulations!
