Birthday Bubbles

Last month I celebrated a big birthday.  I celebrated down at our Shore house and brought a bottle of Cremant De Loire "Diamant De Loire" Brut with me as most of our wines are up north.  It's sad to say that this Cremant was the highlight of my day.

Since it was a Sunday, I decided to begin to celebrate early and found myself "home alone" around brunch time.  I popped open the bottle.  The Loire Valley in France is known for growing Chenin Blanc, Chardonay and Cabernet Franc.  This bottle was a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Chenin Blanc.

The bubbly had a beautiful light straw color and the bubbles were nice and tight as they danced in the glass. Aromas of white flowers and lemon zest filled the air.  One sip and I realized this was a keeper.  Hints of green apple and nice acidity, finishing with a hint of toast.

I had purchased this for $12.99 at Invino and I should have purchased more than the 2 bottles.  When I went back to order more, they were sold out :(
