Discovering the Bubbly Elegance of Tre Secoli Asti Spumante Dolce DOCG

The holiday season isn’t over yet. This week is a week of get-togethers, and of course, New Year’s Eve. Why not celebrate with Tre Secoli Asti Spumante Dolce DOCG.Right off the bat, this wine will be a bit on the sweet side because Dolce means sweet in Italian. Don’t let that scare you. It all has its place for enjoyment.

A little about Tre Secoli before I dive into the pairings. Tre Secoli winery dates back to the late 19th century. Established in 1887, Tre Secoli has been a cooperative winery, a testament to the collective spirit of the local vine growers. This cooperative model fosters community and ensures that each bottle of wine reflects the essence of the region's rich viticultural heritage.

Tre Secoli is renowned for preserving traditional winemaking techniques while embracing modern innovations. This blend of old and new is evident in their farming practices. The vineyards of Tre Secoli are cultivated with an unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability, ensuring that each grape is a pure expression of the land.

For those unfamiliar, the DOCG designation is a prestigious classification in the world of Italian wines. It means 'Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita,' this label is not just a mark of excellence; it embodies the highest tier of quality and authenticity, a distinction bestowed exclusively upon Italy's finest wines.

Tre Secoli Asti Spumante Dolce DOCG is made exclusively from the Moscato Bianco grape, which thrives in the mild climate and fertile soils of Piedmont. This grape is the soul of Asti Spumante, imparting a distinctive floral and fruity aroma that makes this wine unmistakably unique.

The aroma is a beautiful bouquet of ripe peaches, fresh orchard apples, a touch of citrus, and a hint of floral notes. On the palate, this Asti Spumante is a nice blend of sweetness and acidity, with hints of pineapple and tropical notes. The wine's natural sweetness is counterbalanced by its refreshing acidity, resulting in a light, clean finish that invigorates the palate.

This wine will pair well with savory dishes that have a spice to it, like Asian or Indian food. The sweetness of the wine will tone down the heat on your palate and blend the flavors wonderfully.

Don’t forget dessert! This will pair well with fruit pies, especially apple. Also cream, cream-based desserts like Creme Brulee or Panna Cotta. It paired well with my Neiman Marcus bars, rum cake and cranberry upside-down cake.

Whether enjoyed on a special occasion or as a delightful end to a meal, Tre Secoli Asti Spumante Dolce is sure to add a touch of elegance and joy to any moment. Remember, every day is a special occasion!
