Recuerdo 2011 Torrontes

A little ginger and jasmine are in order for this 2011 Recuerdo Torrontes.

Those are the first aromas and flavors I got when I poured this in my glass.  A little bit of summer for this never ending winter.

The grapes for this wine come from the Famatina Valley wine region in the province of La Rioja on 30 to 40 year old vines. The wine was fermented in stainless steel for 3 months which gives it its bright freshness and the thought of spring or summer.

Beyond the ginger on the nose, there were aromas of white flowers and a hint of orange blossom.  Once on my palate I envisioned spring buds and warm sun.  Hints of minerality with tropical fruits and balanced acidity filled my mouth.  As the wine began to finish there nuisances of fresh orange zest that lingered for a few.

Then I was brought back to reality and the white stuff I saw out my window.  Soon enough the weather will get nice.

This wine retails for approximately $15.
